Week 12 (March 15 - March 20)
Full Spread View:
For consistency, I plan on using Design A for all 52 weeks. I like the ratio of 4x6 and 3x4 pockets. Used a combination of Midnight Edition Core Kit filler cards and some printables.
This week's spread had a touch of Florida theme! The "Four Ladies Reunion" mini girls' weekend was in Florida. It was crazy to hear that it was snowing at home on the first day of Spring. We definitely lucked out and got some 80 degree weather!
Left Side View:
Palm trees everywhere! Definitely had to take a picture of at least one. We rented out a place off of airbnb in Inverness, Florida. Though many places close a bit earlier down in Florida, it was a relaxing and good to catch up with old coworkers/friends.
When traveling, I find that there is so much inspiration that you can get from the different things you see. Or maybe it's just being in warmer weather puts me in a better mood and gets my spirits up to create more.
Right Side View:
I brought my Polaroid camera with me on this trip. I thought of an idea of taking a photo of each of the girls and putting the individual shot into the 4x3 card slot page protector. I need to stop hoarding and trying to wait for the right moment to use the camera. With cameras and phones these days, it's the thought of take a photo and having it developed right then. One shot and not messing up.
In one of the souvenir shop, saw a "greetings from florida" postcard, yup bought it! It fit perfectly into the 4x6 card slot and it added so much color to the spread.
Middle Insert:
I added an additional insert in this week's spread. I really wanted to capture a shot while kayaking. I envisioned this 3x3 baseball card to fill the photo. I love the idea of cutting a large photo and turning it into a puzzle like piece. But I am not the greatest at measuring out the exact lines to cut. I am always just a little bit off. If anyone has any suggestion on a future photo on creating gridlines to measure out, would love to know how you do it!
On the back, I inserted various memorabilia I collected during the trip. Menus, plane ticket, maps and receipts are some of the items I included. Also, after reading a blog post on Artifact Uprising on seeing things differently and giving easy steps taking photos a different way. Tried a few techniques while on the trip with the pool where I used the "keep it in the corners" technique. The one was "think in color", there was this little store where we were visiting in Tarpon Springs. Loved the colors of the building and the mix of tiles and paint.
