If you follow me on Instagram, earlier this week I posted an inspiration/mood board for a mini project. Channeling the sea, wanted to create some tags. I had quite a bit of paint lift so I decided to dip different size paper. Saw this amazing video from Good Housekeeping TV. Showed a great step by step. Decided to give it a try! Now if only I can make my own paper. Might have to save that for another time!
MATERIALS:
- Watercolor Paper
- Watercolor Paint
- Paint Brush
- Water
- Hole Punch
- Scissors or Paper Cutter (not pictured)
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Power Towel
- Books
- Bowl
- 1-2 cups of water (not pictured)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1: Draw out tags to your desired size using pencil and ruler. I had mine at 1in x 2in.
Step 2: Cut the tags using scissors or paper cutter. With a hole puncher, punch a hole at the top of the tag.
Step 3: In a bowl, mix watercolor paints (colors of your choice) with 1-2 cups of water. I added in a deep green, dark blue and white. I found that 1 cup of water works well.
Step 4: Stir the mixture with a paint brush.
Step 5: Dip the tag into the mixture and hold for about 10-20 seconds. Dab excess paint onto a paper towel.
Step 6: Lay dipped tags onto extra paper towels. I covered the tags with another layer of paper towel and put a book on top. Let try overnight.
I love how no two tags look the same! Now I want to experiment and try other different colors. What are some of your favorite colors, could use some ideas on what to try!
